Qatar Solar Technologies Builds New PlantQatar Solar Technologies (QSTec) will be building a polysilicon production facility worth around USD 1 billion in Qatar.
QSTec's plant will manufacture 8000 t/y of high-purity solar grade polysilicon and is scheduled to commence operations in second half of 2013. The site is located on 1,2 million m2 of land in Ras Laffan Industrial City. QSTec's Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract was awarded to the Punj Lloyd Group, a EPC conglomerate headquartered in India. QSTec is a joint venture between Qatar Solar (a wholly owned subsidiary of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development), SolarWorld AG and Qatar Development Bank (10/2011). |
