15th FREIBERG REFRACTORY FORUM: Decarbonization and Recycling Strategies of the Refractory Industry

The opening at “Alte Mensa” in Freiberg/DE will be at 10 am on 11th Dec. 2024 together with the meeting of the DGM/DKG Technical Committee „Refractories“ headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Christos G. Aneziris (TU Bergakademie Freiberg, IKFVW) followed by:

  • Recycling Based Macarbon Lining Concepts for Steel Ladles and Electric Arc Furnaces – Dr.-Ing. Thomas Schemmel (Refratechnik Steel, Göttingen);
  • Hydrogen Technologies for Decarbonization of Industrial Heating Processes – Dr.-Ing. Thorsten Tonnesen (GHI, RWTH Aachen);
  • Use of Metallurgical Residues as Potential Raw Materials for High Performance Refractory Castables – Dipl.-Ing. Mathilda Derensy (GHI, RWTH Aachen);
  • Digital TWINs for Green Hydrogen Transition in Steel Industry – Dipl.-Ing. Thomas Zanin (GHI, RWTH Aachen);
  • Advancing High-Temperature Materials through Interdisciplinary Research: Exploring Refractory Recyclates and Metal/Ceramic Composites for CO2-Reduction in Metallurgy – M.Sc. Matheus R. Bellé (GRK 2802, IEST, TU Bergakademie Freiberg).

After the lectures the Awarding Ceremony Theodor-Haase-Prize will be held. In the afternoon a “Poster Session” will high-light various research projects (BMWK-Verbundvorhaben Hybrid-FIRE, DFG-Schwerpunktprogramm SPP 2419, ESF-Nachwuchsforschungsgruppe „AddWasserstoff“ / BMWK joint project Hybrid-FIRE, DFG priority program SPP 2419, ESF Junior Researcher Group „AddWasserstoff“ ).
