36th Anniversary for Trent Refractories

Robert Crossland founded on 10th March 1989 Trent Refractories (UK) in 1989, having a background in refractories and a previous business that was sold to Steetley and later to Lafarge, he wanted to continue to service the needs of the steel industry. Life started with a brand new facility in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, which was part of an enterprise zone at the time and remains the manufacturing base today. Some of the first customers were within the Greek and Finnish market who we still service today. The first items of precast were Launders and Taphole blocks.

Back in 1989 the Berlin Wall fell leading to democracy in Eastern Europe, George Bush Senior became US president, Nintendo Game Boy was released, Taylor Swift was born and Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web with Sky Television also going live. Founded 36 years ago Trent Refractories remains a global market leader for refractory precast and monolithic products for casthouses and steel producers worldwide.
