Steel Meets Refractory: The 8th Industry Dialogue between the Steel Industry and Refractories Producers

Under the aegis of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the steel and refractories industries are meeting for an inter-industry dialogue headed “Steel Meets Refractory” in Höhr-Grenzhausen/DE on 18/19 April 2024.

This 8th Industry Dialogue will commence at noon on 18 April 2024 at the Westerwald Ceramics Museum and will be moderated by Dr Andus Buhr (Almatis) and Dr Annika Mertke (Salzgitter Flachstahl). The following items in the programme will be discussed:

• UNITECR 2023: Review and conclusions from “The Carbon Challenge”.

• Ladle-focussed papers from the steel industry – then from the refractories industry.

• Following on from this, requirements for monolithic or brick-lined ladles and for carbon reduction will be elaborated and compiled in workshops.

On 19 April 2024, a plant tour is scheduled at the DFFI member company Calderys in Neuwied.

“To enable this industry dialogue with technical exchange and discussion between the attendees, we are extending a specific invitation to the technical as well as R&D managers from the steel and refractories industries,” explains Thomas Kaczmarek, Secretary General of the German Refractories Association (DFFI). The total number of attendees is limited. Attendance is possible only after confirmation of online registration.
