Calsitherm – the Chief Celebrating His 70th Birthday

With Calsitherm, his Paderborn-based company, Klaus Hölscher has been selling calcium silicate products for 35 years – all over the world. Brought up in Bad Lippspringe and Paderborn, he studied business administration in Münster, Berlin, Kiel and Cologne, where he also earned his PhD. In 1970 Dr Klaus Hölscher started off working in the steel industry in the Ruhr district as the youngest director of a company group. Following the death of his mother in 1976, he took over the Hölscher sand-lime brickworks in Bad Lippspringe. Later he joined with the company Wüseke to found Calsitherm Silikatbaustoffe GmbH in Paderborn. He heads this company as Managing Partner. The Calsitherm Group owns the companies Silca Service- und Vertrieb GmbH in Mettmann and subsidiaries for sales and production in Italy, Netherlands and Malaysia. Focuses are calcium silicate products for high-temperature insulation technology, chimney and stove engineering, capillary-active interior insulation, fire protection and wear parts for the aluminium industry. In 2012, the Group is set to turn over approx. EUR 35 million with its around 110 employees. His two sons, Dr Tobias and Benjamin Hölscher, also work at Calsitherm. In addition, he is chairman of the Industry Association for Inorganic Insulation Materials. As advisory board chairman, he mentors two medium-size companies in machine engineering and vehicle manufacture in the region. Since 1983 he has worked in an honorary capacity as a commercial judge. In recognition of his services, in 1994 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on a Ribbon and in 2004 the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class. Dr Klaus Hölscher celebrated his 70th birthday on 1 December. (12/2012)
