EIRICH Mourns Hans Ries
After studying process engineering and spending a brief period in another company, Hans Ries was head of the Process Technology department of EIRICH for 41 years from 1953 until his retirement in 1994. Over several stages he turned his first place of work, a small test room, into a modern test center that still today is considered a model of its kind. But the breadth of his ideas and the desire for innovation that he displayed have left an even greater legacy. He did not shy away from leaving the beaten track in order to seek out new and better solutions. Many of EIRICH customers in a wide range of industries are still profiting today from his developments.
In the industry, and especially in his original specialism of ceramics, his name has a particular resonance. Hans Ries published countless technical publications and gave innumerable technical presentations across the world. Even after his retirement, several trade associations valued him so highly they made him an honorary member and senior consultant. With his extensive work in the public eye, he became synonymous with EIRICH in the industry. In addition to this technical expertise, Hans Ries won the hearts of many people throughout the world, from America to Japan, with his sense of humor and warm, boisterous, nature. With his technical and personal achievements Hans Ries has erected a memorial to himself.
