ICG Workshop in Glass Science and Technology in Montpellier

The ICG offers now a second summer school entitled „Glass – the fourth State of Matter?“ from 26 – 30 July 2010 in Montpellier. On the first day of the workshop a broad overview of key fundamentals in glass science and technology will be presented. Subsequently individual days will focus on the glass transition, crystallisation and glass surfaces, and will in each case cover fundamentals, techniques and applications. The lectures will be presented by ten world experts from industry and academia. A significant aspect of the workshop will be a series of projects that encourage interactions with other members of the group, and that help to develop understanding by applying what has been learned to specific issues. The course is designed for new PhD students or for young researchers who have recently started research in the glass industry. The fee for the course will be no more than EUR 250, including 2 coffee breaks/day and a 1 course dinner; 5 nights lodging with breakfast and 5 lunches in a student residence at the university will cost EUR 200. Participants will be limited to 50. In case of interest, please contact: j.m.parker@sheffield.ac.uk or Bernard.Hehlen@univ-montp2.fr. A more complete programme will appear on the ICG website www.icglass.org.
