Imerys Refractory Minerals at UNITECR
In addition to exhibiting its broad product portfolio, Imerys Refractory Minerals will contribute to the event program by presenting the results of a study conducted by C.A.R.R.D., Imerys’ Center for Abrasives & Refractories Research. C.A.R.R.D. engineers and technicians examined the behaviours of various fused and sintered alumina types, and alumino silicate raw materials such as chamotte, mullite, bauxite and andalusite, with an objective to assess their possible use as aggregates and fillers in the preparation of low cement castables. The study investigated the effect of different compositions on the thermo-mechanical properties of refractory castables. In particular some of the key properties such as refractoriness under load, thermal shock, and hot creep resistance were deeply investigated. Interesting correlations between matrix compositions and the behavior of the castables were detected and analysed, providing insights on the course of high temperature reactions within the different investigated materials.
