Jindal Shadeed Inaugurated Sohar Complex

In fact, the company started production from its 1,5 Mt/a capacity direct reduction iron plant earlier this year. Jindal Shadeed is embarking on a massive expansion, with an envisaged investment of USD 400 million. The company is building a steel melting shop for producing billets and round products at its large complex in Sohar. The melt shop, part of the project’s phase II development, is a key component of Shadeed’s ambition to create an integrated steel plant with a range of products. As much as USD 200 million will be invested for the steel melting shop, but the total investment will be around USD 400 million, which include long product rolling mill. Indian steel-making giant Jindal Steel and Power, which acquired Shadeed Iron and Steel for USD 464 million last year, is committed to the project’s development into a world-class plant (06/2011).
