RHI Invests EUR 7 Million in Didier Plant in Niederdollendorf

The new furnace (type shuttle kiln) including the required infrastructure have just been commissioned for operation. This investment enlarges the firing volume capacity of the shuttle kilns by 18 %. This means that in the coming years, RHI will be able to produce an additional 5500 t of refractory products annually for the glass industry as well as for the environmental, energy and chemical industries. “We worked for 15 months with a core project team of around 10 employees and additional external partners on the new infrastructure. Despite the higher output, we are cutting dust and fluorine emissions in half by installing new filters and are now far below the permitted threshold,” stated the Plant Manager Klaus Düpre. The plant in Niederdollendorf belongs to Didier-Werke AG, which is a 100 % subsidiary of RHI, and has around 230 employees producing 43000 t refractory products exported worldwide for the glass, environmental, energy and chemical industries. The plant was founded in 1886. RHI employees 8000 persons worldwide at 33 production sites and some 70 sales offices. It reported sales revenues of EUR 1758,6 million (2010: EUR 1522,9 million) for the financial year 2011 (4/2012).
