Sohar Aluminum Mulls Hiking Output Three-fold

Henk stated that this would be possible if expansions plans put forth by the company get a nod from the Ministry of Oil and Gas. With global demand for primary aluminium set to reach 75 Mt by 2020, the Chief Executive sees huge potential for the aluminum industry despite slack season at the moment. The MoU signed at the PACI head office focuses on training of 15 Omani youths. The Aluminum Craft Training Project will begin from November 1, and will conclude on October 31, 2014. The entire cost of the training would be borne by Sohar Aluminium. Dr Isam Ali Ahmed Al Rawas, Deputy Chairperson of Public Authority for Crafts Industries, said that the PACI was beholden to Sohar Aluminium for this kind gesture and expects more such support in future. The agreement signed is an MoU between the two parties whereby PACI will provide the trainer and the study material while Sohar Aluminium will provide the faculties and funding for the programme. The centre will train selected women from low income families in the local community on manufacturing aluminium crafts. It will be a two-year training programme. This is the first time that such a training centre is being established for aluminium crafts. (8/2012)
