TRIMET Essen Produced the 8th Million Ton of Cast Aluminium
The record lot, produced as ingot moulds, was delivered to the BMW Group. Since 2010, the automotive group has been supplied with cast alloys from Essen. TRIMET took over the location from Alusuisse in 1994 shortly before the threatened closure, and has been continuously expanding it ever since. In 2003, the first horizontal continuous casting plant was put into operation at the location. Today, some 750 employees, annually produce around 165 000 t of primary aluminium and 300 000t of foundry products, including rolling ingots, extrusion billets, and cast alloys in the form of ingots.
