Valeriy V. Martynenko Will Be 60 in October
In 1974 after graduating from the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute, V. V. Martynenko started work at the Ukrainian Research Institute of Refractories where he passed all stages becoming scientist and leader, working in the institute in positions from engineer to deputy director of science. In 1983 he defended his PhD degree focused on research and development of ceramic fibre insulating products technology. The field of his scientific interests is very wide and embraces for example actual problems of refractories technology, constructions of units, and new methods of researches. Under his leadership and participation many new, competitive units in the world market of refractories for coke furnaces, steel ladles, induction, and glass furnaces were developed. As a man of wide erudition and inexhaustible creative energy he is known and valued as a specialists in refractories and metallurgy not only in countries of the CIS, but also in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany, China, Japan, USA, Arabic Republic Egypt and others. He published more than 310 works, including more than 65 copyright certificates and patents on inventions.
