IPCOM Acquires a Majority Stake in UNISTARA S.p.A.

IPCOM/BE, the leading European specialist in the distribution and fabrication of technical insulation, announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Unistara S.p.A./IT. Unistara is the leading distributor of high temperature refractories and insulation in Italy. This strategic move will further strengthen IPCOM’s high-temperature business unit, the INSULCON Group.

Unistara was founded in 1984 and is based in Genova, Italy. It transforms and distributes a wide range of high-temperature refractories and insulation materials for various applications in different industrial segments, such as Foundry, Domestic appliances, Cement, Ceramics, Steel, Aluminium and Glass. With 7 warehouses and a highly professional team of around 80 employees, the company is the clear market leader in Italy and well known in Europe.

Pierfederico Abignente, Chairman Unistara, commented: “Joining forces with IPCOM’s high-temperature group opens up interesting opportunities for our customers. Together we can offer an even wider range of both standard and tailor made solutions. We will remain as shareholders because we believe strongly in the long term success of our group. We are really looking forward to working together to accelerate the growth of our joint business.”

Patrick Noppen, CEO of INSULCON Group, stated: “We are thrilled to welcome Unistara to our group, particularly as Ilaria Abignente will continue as CEO, overseeing the business moving forward. Additionally, Pierfederico Abignente, together with Sergio Spagnoli and Fausto Nicolosi, will remain on the board of directors. This stability will enhance the continuity and success of our collaboration.

With this acquisition, we now have three companies in Italy that specialize in high-temperature solutions. We believe that the combined expertise of Unistara, TESPE, INSULCON Venice, and the broader INSULCON Group will drive further innovation, enhance operational efficiency, and provide even greater value to our customers.”
