ECO-TAB® ALUMINAS – Resource Savings Combined with Wear Resistance

The Drive for Greener Steel

Steelmakers accepted the challenge: to reduce energy losses and CO2 emissions in steel production. The refractory linings of transport and treatment vessels such as steel vessels are crucial in meeting sustainability targets. Our raw material innovations enable a new design of refractories  to accompany you in this journey to success.

Energy Savings In Steel Ladle

Almatis/DE has launched a new alumina refractory aggregate, ECO-TAB®, for use in steel ladles and other vessels with thermal cycles. ECO-TAB® is a lower density alumina refractory aggregate newly developed for wear linings. It contributes to energy savings by reduced thermal conductivity and heat capacity. Lower refractory weight reduces material consumption and resulting in capacity improvements in steel production, lowering the CO2 footprint.

High-Quality, Lower Environmental Impact

First industrial experiences with two European steel manufacturer have proven that ECO-TAB® lower density aggregate’s is as resistant as dense Tabular Alumina T60/T64 in protecting your refractory lining against wear. By choosing ECO-TAB®, you can now combine the advantages of the high-quality that you are used to while reducing your carbon footprint. Find out more about ECO-TAB® at:
